Wavehill are conducting research into the skills needs of businesses (particularly SMEs) to shape publicly provided training provision and support for skills to help the economy recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The research will provide insight to help align training provision with need and ensure that skills provision in the West of England is strategically aligned to need. The evidence will also be used to support the Local Enterprise Partnership and local authorities with their skills policies and recovery plans.
The West of England Combined Authority has launched the Creative Sector Growth Programme aimed at creative businesses and freelancers across the region (inc. North Somerset).
The programme follows on from the highly successful Creative Scale Up and will support up to 120 creative businesses to reformulate their operating and financial models, explore new business opportunities and review business plans in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
New courses in gaming software, digital marketing, data science, AI and User Experience will soon be on offer to help train more people to work in the region’s growing digital and creative businesses.
The courses will be delivered with help from Bristol-based games developer Opposable Games with recruitment starting next month.
