On the day 1035kg of items were donated... over a ton of devices formerly languishing in homes and offices across B&NES.
Numbers:
202 devices with potential for giving out again made up of
- 70 Laptops
- 34 PCs
- 21 Tablets
- 77 Mobile phones
To add excitement to the day a film crew from BBC’s The One Show joined the team to make a short documentary on the event and the work Donate IT does. They filmed a lot of footage in Share and Repair and around B&NES which should be showcased in the next couple of weeks.
Helen Godwin, the new Metro Mayor for the West of England Combined Authority dropped by to support the event and Share and Repair were pleased to be able to show her around their George Street Shop.
Ruth Lambert, CEO of Share and Repair said “ We are delighted to be partnering with Donate IT for a second time. Their ethos of keeping tech items in circulation for longer perfectly matches our own objectives to encourage people to repair their items and to borrow instead of buying wherever possible.”
Donate IT were able to donate some tech to Share and Repair themselves for use at their new home in Redbridge House, Lower Bristol Road, BA2 3EW once they move in September and they also donated some refurbished phones which the Share and Repair Team will be offering as part of their HomeKIT project which supplies local people on low incomes with small electrical items when they are setting up home.
Watch out for more Tech Amnesties in coming months at Share and Repair’s Repair Cafes and their new base.
