Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Business and Skill’s team (Achieve in B&NES), in collaboration with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), are organising the Disability Confident Job Fair to showcase employers who are committed to disability inclusion. Attendees will be able to meet representatives from local businesses, learn how they support disabled employees in the workplace and explore any current vacancies.
Councillor Paul Roper, Cabinet Member for Economic and Cultural Sustainable Development, said: “This event is an opportunity to highlight local organisations that have signed up to the government’s Disability Confident Scheme, showing that they value diversity and are actively building accessible workplaces. I would encourage people to come along on the day, whether they are seeking their first role, considering a career change or wanting to explore what options there are because it offers a fantastic opportunity to speak face-to-face to key people from various organisations and get advice and encouragement to take that next step.”
Although designed to help disabled job seekers, everyone is welcome to attend the event.

The employers involved have committed to inclusive employment practices through the government’s Disability Confident Scheme, which supports the government’s goal of halving the employment gap between disabled and non-disabled people.
The scheme is voluntary and encourages employers to actively recruit, retain and develop disabled workers.
The Disability Confident Job Fair will take place on Thursday 23 October at the Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW from 10am to 1pm.
