Share and Repair is an environmentally focussed charity based in and around Bath which works to support the local community to repair, borrow and reuse items rather than buying new or throwing them away. Although typically recognised for their 11 Repair Cafes and Library of Things, Share and Repair has a small team of HomeKIT volunteers working hard to support local residents who are struggling to buy basic items for their homes.

Smokers in Bath and North East Somerset are being urged to get support to quit smoking this Stoptober.

On 12th August local environmental charity Share and Repair hosted their second Tech Amnesty in partnership with Somerset charity Donate IT. Throughout the morning local people were able to bring along any tech items lurking in their “drawer of doom”. Donate IT will then securely wipe their data, refurbish them where necessary and redistribute as many as possible to support people who require access to tech, but due to the cost of living crisis are unable to buy the items they need. Donate IT work closely with partner organisations such as Share and Repair to both collect in old tech and redistribute it.

A new initiative is giving young people with additional needs the opportunity to take their first steps into the world of work. The Somer Valley Skills Pathway Supported Internship is now open for applications, offering a unique blend of real-world work experience, skill-building, and tailored support.

On Saturday 14th June Residents of Bathford launched a new monthly Repair Café with local charity Share and Repair. This community-led event took place from 9.30am to 12pm at Bathford Parish Hall, offering a friendly and welcoming space where 13 local volunteers helped fix household items in return for a “pay what you can” donation. 23 Bathford residents brought along sometimes more than one item for repair including picture frames, lamps, toasters, toy cars and clothes.

Young artists have worked together to transform a graffiti covered wall on the path alongside the River Avon in Bath with a bright and colourful work of art.
